It's not the NRA's function to "listen" to calls for gun bans. Luntz is way overreaching here. Luntz talks about what "most Americans" want, but NRA does not represent "most Americans". NRA's function in our society is to protect the rights of the gun owners who are its members, because if the leadership doesn't do that, then they get the boot.
Luntz makes the obtuse statements that , "...not every human being should own a gun, not every gun should be available at any time, anywhere, for anyone...", but we know from experience what the gun grabbers do with such obtuse ideas - they turn them into a laundry list of specific and far-reaching prohibitions.
