A 67 meter increase in ocean levels within 10 years? Only Al Gore could make such a claim.

Does Gore get paid for these talks?

“The North Pole ice cap is 40 percent gone already and could be completely and totally gone in the winter months in the next 5 to 10 years,” he warned.

If the North Pole were to melt it could increase sea levels by 67 metres, Gore said, speaking in the heart of an oil-rich region not known for its regard for the environment. . . .

Well, the ice could be gone within a decade - IF, say, Sol exploded into a nova. That the actual chance of such an occurence is so small as to constitute fantasy is not important to the likes of All Gory, who installed solar power at his NC home resulting in drawing more electricity from the electric power company...

If the polar ice cap is floating in the artic ocean, which it is, then even if it were to melt completely, it wouldn't change the sea level at all.

Gore said "6 to 7 meters", not 67 meters. Geez, you hate Gore so much, you can't even check your facts?

Now, are you man enough to apologize?

So if:

1)the polar ice cap is already 40% melted, and

2) the remaining 60% would raise sea levels by 67 meters, then:

3) shouldn't the 40% that is already melted have raised sea levels by approximately 45 meters by now?

They have since revised the article to read 6-7 meters, NOT 67 meters...

Dear Schroedinger:

1) 6 to 7 meters is 10 times what even the UN climate change panel predicted.

2) I quoted what the article had written exactly. I looked for other sources, but that was the only article that I found on the speech.
