C-SPAN's Washington Journal discussion on Gun Control

For those interested, you can watch the program on your computer here. I think that it went well. The C-SPAN version in the above link provides the best version of the show, but just in case that stops working here is the show on youtube.

Is it just my imagination that C-Span was willing to give a thoroughly unproductive citizen like Eleanor Holmes Norton more time in the speaker's chair than you Dr. Lott?

thank you for your time on C-SPAN. You handled the "callers" very well and were able to emphasize many basic "facts" on the gun issue. An excellent piece, I'm glad you were able to have the time to present an unbiased perspective.
NOTE: the segment is about 3hrs long and moving to 0:56 will catch 'E H Norton' comments just prior to your 30minute segment.

An outstanding job, Dr. Lott. It is obvious that your speaking skills have improved a great deal, and you handled this interview wonderfully.

No male bovine fecal matter, no emotional rhetoric, just the facts.

It seems to me at times, that the government, and Hollywood, sells the viewpoint that only the police, and or the government forces are capable of protecting us, when in fact Law Enforcement has no legal requirement to protect us.

Think about this for a moment. If in fact, one could hold the Police liable for failure to protect citizens from harm, where would this lead us?

We cannot hold the Police accountable, and we are not allowed to defend ourselves, and are held accountable for doing so. What are the actions that would be taken against us if we did indeed break some law while protecting ourselves and family.

The facts that Dr. Lott have presented, must be irrefutable, as I have yet to see an valid argument presented against them.

If in fact, according to our elected offals, no one is responsible for our personal protection, then who is?

I wonder what Elenor Holmes Norton thought about the gun bans of the deep South after Post Covil War reconstruction?

As usual you had the the floor.

I thought you did an *great* job Dr Lott.
My only complaint would be the association of assault weapons to deer hunting rifles: THey probably suck at deer hunting and the implication (it seemed to me) that machine guns should be illegal is not something I would agree with.

a gun is a gun is a gun just like a knife is a knife is a knife

a gun in any irresponsible hand will be misused, just like a knife, just like a rock, just like the Constitution

in the hands of an individual who seeks a choice at a cost to others without their consent - will always exist

it's not that it will exist, it's how we respond to through laws which create consequences

NO ONE will EVER stop someone from doing something he is hell bent on doing

GREAT INTERVIEW! Spot on!
